As a former financial advisor, it is easy to separate the savers from the spenders. It didn’t ultimately come down to the habits. The habits were a by-product of character.
- People who are never broke view money as a good thing. They don’t curse money. They don’t view money
as the root of all of their problems. They like money. They welcome it as a tool. When they see a penny on the street, they pick it up and have gratitude for finding money. - They consistently save money. They have discipline. Someone who is never broke always has savings. Many
people get their salary and spend it all before the next salary. - They usually have a few side hustles whether it’s selling Mitumba T-shirts or used shoes in their offices.
- They invest.
- They spend very little on eating out. When you look at bank statements of people who aren’t broke, there are usually very little expenditure on things like fast food and clutter (pointless furnishings for their homes.) They don’t hyper consume.
- They are usually into fitness. Being fit takes discipline. You can see how that rolls over into being good with money.
- They live well below their means. They have learned to view material wants and desires as low-importance temptations.
- Some of them can be compulsive and anxious. They scrutinize every detail on their statements and question every fee.
- They don’t possess the never/ always belief system. E.g, “I always have the worst luck.” or “I never get what I want.” They understand that
they control their outcomes.
Where do you place yourself?
