Most meals were prepared at home. At work, you brought your lunch with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>c. Taking the family out to a restaurant for dinner was a special treat, and usually planned in advance. It was rare. It was never because you \u201cdidn\u2019t feel like cooking today\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>d. The idea of paying for bottled water would seem ridiculous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>e. They didn\u2019t have to buy and drink overpriced coffee or Pizzas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>f. They didn\u2019t buy junk they didn\u2019t really need unless they were willing to part with their hard-earned CASH for it. Credit card use was unthinkable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>g. Anything they had to finance, such as a car or a house, was accompanied with a large down payment. No impulse buying. No online shopping, Selection was limited to what was locally available, and you had to physically go look for it and pay cash. Spending money required effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>i. Less spending on entertainment in general. Most homes didn\u2019t have a TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>j. Energy costs were lower because you didn\u2019t have a million devices in your home using electricity. You turned lights off when you left the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>k. Saying \u201cI can\u2019t afford it\u201d was perfectly acceptable. You didn\u2019t need to keep up with the Jones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>l. They shopped by price, not by payment.
