Officer identified as Denis Mokua Monda was arrested along with four other suspects in a hideout in Nairobi area on Monday, October 17, 2022.
Attached to Kwanza police station in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County , he is among nine suspects being held at Kitengela police station for robbery with violence.
At the time of their arrests, police recovered two toy guns which eventually led to the arrest of their alliance who have been terrorizing residents of Kitengela town and its environs.
According to a detective pursuing the case, the rogue officer has recently been absconding from duty and was also being pursued by a complainant over theft claims.
The detective who sort anonymity noted that the officer is also believed to have been hiring his firearm to criminal gangs and coordinating a chain of criminal gangs within Nairobi area.
“The insecurity incidences in Kitengela town are well executed by the criminal gang which we have so far arrested some of the ring leaders. The well-coordinated crimes are conducted by criminals who mutually work together,”Isinya Sub-County police commander Ancient Kaloki stated .
He further continued that some of the items including electronics that were reported to have been stolen were recovered in the suspects’ hideouts in Mlolongo where they were caught.
